How indoor positioning can empower event visitors

Visitors can find their way – and each other – by using mobile apps.

Many people use GPS to find their way. That’s great for the outdoors but as soon as you go into a building, GPS does not work very well. This means that GPS apps can’t help event visitors who are feeling lost.

But there is a solution for this: indoor positioning. And this is where the QPS™ Positioning Engine from Qubulus comes in. The engine uses radio signals to find out where mobile phones are located. This makes it possible for Wi-Fi connected Android phones to run apps with indoor positioning support.

Indoor positioning at Internet Days 2011

ITM Mobile and Qubulus delivered a mobile app with indoor positioning for the Swedish event Internet Days 2011. The app contained a mobile map of the floor where the exhibitors were located. The user could see his/her indoor position on the map as well as the position of contacts who also used indoor positioning.
