Why work on indoor positioning?

The alternative positioning market is estimated by ABI Research as a $2.5 billion market by 2015, a fast growing market that exists because GPS doesn’t work inside or in dense urban areas. We spend 80-90% of our time indoors, 70% of all phone calls originate from indoors and 80% of all our mobile data traffic originates from indoors. In practise this means that every location-based service that exists today will in one form or another move indoors if the technology to do so is available, let alone the still to be invested application areas.
